About Independent Study & Mentorship Program

ISM (Independent Study and Mentorship Program) is a rigorous program offered by Frisco Independent School District for high-achieving  and academically advanced juniors and seniors. This program is designed to help these students pursue a career of their choosing by conducting interviews and creating their own projects. In order to get accepted, students must submit a detailed application with recommendation letters, an essay, and give an interview.

Once accepted, students obtain an opportunity to select a topic of their choice to explore their passions and possible careers. This is made possible by obtaining a mentor from the professional world through an interview process which gives the opportunity for students to do hands-on learning. Furthermore, this program facilitates communication and writing skills, research skills, and an unique experience in the professional world for students.
