I am well underway in my Original Work journey this semester. With my secondary research on periodic journal articles, I have learned about transformers, recurrent neural networks, and long short-term memory models and have been granted the ability to understand the applications of these algorithms. I was able to see applications of transformers in computer vision, which directly relates to my study from ISM 1 on convolutional neural networks. I think these types of applications have helped me think about the different integrations I could perform with natural language processing and other machine learning fields. Furthermore, I have started exploring the Hugging Face library and its pipelines that can be used to create fine-tuned transformers ready to analyze specific tasks. I am currently taking the Hugging Face crash course on its website to obtain a general understanding of the fundamental concepts that will be used to create transformer-based models. As I continue working on my Original Work, I still need to keep asking professors and other machine learning professionals for my primary research to obtain a deeper perspective on transformers. I hope to start meeting more professionals after this week to obtain fresh perspectives about my original Work early in the journey.
So see you after two weeks, same time, same place. Happy Thanksgiving!
